Bring your book to have it signed, and come early to get a seat. September 28 is for the Champlain College community. September 29 is open to the greater Burlington community. Both evenings are scheduled for 7:30 PM in the IDX Student Life Center Argosy Gymnasium.
Champlain Theater Production of A Raisin in the Sun In addition to exploring the themes of racism, moral courage, identity, and the materialistic side of the American dream, this play asks both blacks and whites to re-examine the deferred dreams of black America. Draw your own conclusions about its relationship to When the Emperor Was Divine. The play will be at 7:30 PM; the location will be announced this fall.
What It Was Really Like -- An Eyewitness Account Listen as a woman who witnessed the Japanese Internment in California shares her memories from that time. Feel history come alive as she recounts the fear and confusion she felt as a 12-year-old. A special multi-media introduction will set the scene with music and moving images to give us a taste of that time and place. A visual tour of the types of media images and propaganda used to justify the internment will round out the evening. |
